3/01/2017

Valentina Vaguada: party, event, paper flowers, balloons, party planer, party ideas

If you’ve ever hosted a party then you know that a lot of work goes into it, and it can be stressful! It can also be difficult to keep down the price of hosting a party so that expenses don’t soar, but who says you can’t put together a beautiful event on a low Budget? That’s why I am here with you today: to share with you this easy, cost effective 7-step plan to hosting a great party.

1. Plan a Budget

It’s the first thing you need to know. It will help you keep track of what you are spending to stop things geting out of control.

2. Choose date, location and time wisely

Figure out time and place two months in advance and reserve location before you do anything else. Also, send out the dates (remember, you can always use Facebook events for an informal party!). Choose wisely because the date will impact who will be able to attend.

3. Choose a theme or not

You don´t ‘have’ to use a theme and you can always build your decor around a color instead of a specific theme. However, if you want to add abit of extra excitement to your party it’s wise to choose one – it can be really fun.

4. Invitations and decorations

The invitation sets the scene of the party and introduces the theme. You can do it yourself or get them custom made (don’t forget disperse all the information on the invitations). Choose decorations that are going to highlight your party theme; you can always use flowers, balloons or tissue paper pom poms. They are a really cost-effective way to decorate, but look amazing and are sure to resonate with your guests. Remember, you can always look online for some free party ideas and printables.

5. Food and drinks

I recommend to use a food and beverage calculator. You just need to have a close-to-accurate head count of party guests which will help you to figure out exactly how much food and drink you should have for your event. Also make sure not to over complicate the food, and choose an easy menu.

You can use this reference from Chickbug and there also some alcohol stores that have alcohol calculators on their website.

6. Birthday cake (or any other event)

You don’t have to make an elaborated cake but if you want to go for something a little more complex you can always order one. You can also skip the cake completely and make cupcakes.

7. Music

Music is one of the important things people tend to forget. This can make or break the party atmosphere; you can either create a playlist or hire an inexpensive DJ (maybe there is an aspiring DJ in your family/friends circle who would only be happy to showcase his ‘skills’!).

I hope you can find these tips useful and here’s wishing you a great party whether if it is a birthday, bachelorette or any other kind of get-together.

New Year - Nuevo año

1/12/2017

Valentina Vaguada: new year, my desk, creative life, Katie Daisy, new year goals

This 2016 was a year full of changes some of them coming from the year before, a year of hard decisions and big falls, so many people with good hard that gave us a hand month after month, friends who changed, friends who stayed and new friendships, a year of constant evolution, learned not to overthink and always think of me and my happiness first. I understood that you are the one who has control of your life, you decides who’s in and out of your life and you are the one who decides how things and the actions of others affects you, a year of truths, entrepreneurship, a year full of ideas, art and creativity, I tried new and different things. A year with new travels and adventures, I cut my hair and I gained 10 pounds. A year that brought with it love, the good one, the kind that makes you smile when you remember things, so besides giving me another year of life and a few more gray hair 2016 left me a lot and I was very happy, stronger and more courageous. Thank you God for this year, for life, health, family, love, work, dreams, projects and good friendships. 2017 here we go!
